Vivo completes Military Accommodation Retrofit Project at RAF ST Mawgan

A strong example of what can be achieved by upgrading existing estates!

VIVO Defence Services has completed a major decarbonisation retrofit at RAF St Mawgan, transforming a 50-year-old accommodation block in just 12 months.

The project was delivered at around 30% of the cost of a typical new-build solution, while significantly improving the building’s energy performance.

Energy Use Intensity dropped from around 150 kWh/m² to 33.2 kWh/m² beating the project’s target of 35 kWh/m² with the building now operating at net zero carbon.

For the wider FM and built environment sector, it’s a useful case study. With organisations under pressure to improve ageing estates while managing cost, carbon and delivery times, refurbishment can offer a very practical alternative to starting again.

A good blueprint for what could be achieved across other large and complex estates!
