UK FM & Built Environment Salary Report 2026

300 North’s UK FM & Built Environment Salary Report 2026 combines findings from its candidate survey with current UK market data, covering FM, PFI/PPP, projects, compliance, surveying and engineering. It provides salary benchmarks by role and region, alongside insight into benefits, pay rises and how professionals feel about their current package.

The findings point to a market where skills shortages are having a significant impact on pay. 34.5% of respondents identified a shortage of good candidates as the biggest driver of salary growth, ahead of cost-of-living pressures at 21.8%. At the same time, 34.5% believe they are being paid below market rate, despite 70% receiving some form of salary increase over the past 12 months.

There are also clear differences across regions and specialisms. The national average salary among respondents was £63,526, with London & the South East averaging £71,945 and the South West £81,464, reflecting particularly strong demand for senior operational and PFI talent. PFI, PPP and SPV specialists continue to attract a premium, while compliance and fire safety are highlighted as areas experiencing growing demand and rising pay.

And salary isn't the whole story. 51% receive flexible or remote working, 49% a car allowance or company car, 44% an enhanced pension and 43% private healthcare, while 16% reported receiving none of the benefits included in the survey.

For employers, the report provides a useful benchmark when planning hires and reviewing salary packages.

For professionals, it offers a clearer picture of how their salary and benefits compare with the wider market.
