Kieran Larkin

I’m a Recruitment Administrator for 300 North and based in their Newcastle office assisting the consultants find the best candidates for the FM and Construction sectors. I’d say I’m a relaxed type of person who looks to get on with all types of people. I try to have a laugh when I can as I think it’s the best way to lift morale or simply to get on with someone. I’ve lived in the North East all my life.

Tell Us About Your Professional Background

My first job was an apprentice electrician which I did for about a year and a half. I started not long after leaving school and it gave me some great memories and I hope this job will give me some too. This is my first office job as I’m used to doing the construction myself rather than finding people to do it!

What Do You Like Doing In Your Spare Time?

I enjoy socialising and football and a few drinks during both! Playing and watching football has always been my main interest from a young age and I’ve had a season ticket at Newcastle United since 2009 and wouldn’t give it up for the world.

What is your dream travel location?

I’d have to say Norway as I’d absolutely love to see the northern lights. I think they look unbelievable and would love to see them with my own eyes at some point in my life. Although there are a couple of places that have them, Norway has always been the one that has stood out to me.

What is the first thing you would buy if you won the lottery?

Along with sharing it with my parents, I’d definitely be looking at houses and holidays!

For National Careers Week, we interviewed Mark Whittaker to spotlight FM careers and discuss how people are moving into and within the sector. The FM workforce comes from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences, with many falling into the sector or not having clarity over the breadth of the opportunities available in it. In this interview we asked Mark about the jobs he’s had, his entry into the FM sector, his work with IWFM over the last 14 years, and how he thinks the sector has changed.
