About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled and driven BMS Engineer to join their Estates team. You will play a key role in maintaining and optimising the site's Building Management System (BMS), supporting both planned and reactive maintenance, and driving energy efficiency initiatives.
This is an exciting opportunity to become a site expert in advanced building controls, where your input will directly influence operational excellence and sustainability outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct PPMs, service, testing, fault diagnosis, repairs, and calibration of complex electrical/mechanical systems.
- Maintain and optimise the Building Management System (BMS), ensuring maximum energy efficiency.
- Collaborate with the company's Energy Consultant to achieve and exceed annual energy targets.
- Produce monthly energy reports and contribute to quarterly/annual reporting.
- Act as the technical authority on BMS - mentoring and training other team members.
- Respond to maintenance breakdowns in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensure BMS system resilience with appropriate disaster recovery planning and stock levels.
- Uphold health and safety standards at all times.
- Participate in the on-call rota for out-of-hours support.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
- Recognised engineering apprenticeship (Electrical or Mechanical).
- City & Guilds, BTEC, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years' post-apprenticeship experience (healthcare environment desirable).
- Strong experience with large-scale BMS systems - particularly Continuum and EcoStruxure.
- Understanding of energy management systems and working to energy targets.
- Familiarity with BMS interface protocols such as Bacnet, Modbus, and Mbus.
- Excellent knowledge of HVAC operations and electrical wiring practices.
- Confident in using Windows-based computer applications.
Desirable:
- IEE 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (2381).
- City & Guilds Inspection & Testing (2391).
- Knowledge of modern energy centre technologies: CHP, boilers, chillers, heat pumps, etc.
