The Opportunity

We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Electrical Estimator to join an established building services contractor based in Sheffield.

This is a key position within the pre-construction team and would suit an experienced electrical estimator who is comfortable taking ownership of their own workload and managing tenders independently from initial enquiry through to submission and handover.

The business delivers electrical building services projects across a varied portfolio, including education, commercial, healthcare, industrial and public-sector environments, with a significant proportion of opportunities generated through established client relationships.

We are looking for somebody with strong electrical estimating experience who combines good commercial awareness with a sound technical understanding of electrical building services.

A background that has progressed from electrical installation or engineering into estimating, or experience incorporating the technical/design aspects of electrical building services, would be particularly advantageous.

The Role

As Senior Electrical Estimator, you will take responsibility for producing accurate, competitive and commercially robust electrical tenders.

You will be expected to manage your own estimating workload while working closely with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and internal operational, commercial and pre-construction teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing detailed electrical estimates from first principles
  • Taking ownership of tenders from initial enquiry through to final submission
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications, Employer's Requirements and contract documentation
  • Producing detailed cost plans, pricing schedules and tender submissions
  • Carrying out accurate take-offs and assessing labour, material and subcontract requirements
  • Identifying project risks and commercial opportunities throughout the tender process
  • Obtaining, analysing and negotiating supplier and subcontractor quotations
  • Attending pre-tender meetings, site surveys, client meetings and tender interviews where required
  • Working closely with Design, Commercial, Procurement and Operations teams
  • Maintaining accurate estimating information, supplier pricing and historical cost data

About You

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Estimator / Senior Electrical Estimator with a strong background in electrical building services.

You should have:

  • Significant experience estimating electrical building services projects
  • The ability to work independently and take responsibility for your own estimating workload
  • Experience preparing estimates from first principles
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical building services systems
  • A good understanding of drawings, specifications and technical documentation
  • Strong knowledge of construction tendering and procurement processes
  • Good commercial and numerical ability
  • Experience obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations
  • The ability to manage multiple tenders and competing deadlines
  • Experience using electrical estimating software
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Experience using Ensign estimating software would be a distinct advantage, although candidates experienced with other electrical estimating packages are also encouraged to apply.

The position is based from Sheffield, with attendance at site surveys, pre-tender meetings and client meetings where required.

If you are an experienced Electrical Estimator looking for a position where you can take ownership of your workload and play an important part in the continued development of an established building services contractor, please apply with an up-to-date CV for further information to sarah@300nr.co.uk
