Job Title: Electrical Manager (High Voltage / Industrial Facilities Management)
Location: Chester, Cheshire
Salary: £60,000 + benefits
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Role Purpose
We are recruiting an Electrical Manager to provide technical leadership, HV authority, and FM governance across a complex site.
This role combines High Voltage (HV) electrical ownership with Technical Services Management (Hard FM) responsibility, ensuring the safe, compliant, and reliable operation of critical infrastructure in a highly pressurised, production-led environment.
This is a safety-critical leadership role, requiring deep electrical competence, strong people leadership, and the resilience to operate confidently under intense operational and client pressure.
Key Responsibilities- Take technical and operational ownership of a HV–LV electrical network, including multiple substations and transformers, ensuring safe operation, switching, isolation and maintenance.
- Act as, or manage, Authorised Persons (HV/LV) in accordance with statutory and organisational safety rules, leading HV shutdown planning and delivery.
- Lead incident response and recovery for electrical failures impacting production and site operations.
- Provide technical assurance and statutory compliance governance across hard FM services, with primary focus on electrical infrastructure and associated plant.
- Lead delivery of high-volume PPM regimes, ensuring task quality, safety and operational relevance; review and improve maintenance strategies and job plans within the CAFM/CMMS system.
- Manage specialist subcontractors, ensuring performance, safety and compliance standards are met.
- Lead, develop and performance-manage a multi-skilled engineering team, setting clear standards for safety culture, behaviour and accountability.
- Provide calm, authoritative leadership during incidents, shutdowns and high-pressure operational situations.
- Act as the senior technical authority on site, interfacing directly with senior client stakeholders and providing clear, evidence-based advice on risk, compliance and feasibility.
- Produce and present technical reports, KPIs, risk registers and governance documentation, supporting asset management, lifecycle and CAPEX discussions.
- Provide technical input into electrical, utilities and infrastructure projects, supporting planning, execution, commissioning and handover, and ensuring all changes are accurately captured in documentation and maintenance regimes.
Key Requirements- Time-served electrically trained professional (apprenticeship or equivalent).
- Proven High Voltage (HV) experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Experience managing substations, transformers and complex electrical networks (e.g. 11kV / 33kV).
- Strong working knowledge of:
- HV/LV safety rules
- Permits to Work, isolations, LOTO
- Electrical statutory compliance
- Demonstrated people leadership experience in a safety-critical environment.
- Confident, resilient communicator able to operate under pressure and manage demanding stakeholders.
Desirable Experience- Current or previous HV Authorised Person (AP) status.
- Experience within outsourced FM or industrial estates contracts.
- CAFM / CMMS system experience (e.g. SAP, Maximo, Concept, etc.).
- Shutdown planning experience on large industrial sites.
- Engineering or management qualifications (HNC/HND/Degree/MSc).
- Exposure to asset management, lifecycle planning and risk-based maintenance.
