Description

Position: Small Works Project Manager - Fabric


Location: Edinburgh


Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 + 5% bonus


Car Allowance: £5,200 or Company Vehicle


Contract: Permanent, Full-time (37.5 hours, Mon-Fri)

Join a leading facilities management and construction services provider as a Small Works Project Manager for fabric-based projects at an acute hospital in Edinburgh. In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining the safety, compliance, and aesthetics of a complex clinical estate.

 


Role Responsibilities:



  • Manage multiple fabric-based small works projects, including:

    • Ward renovations
    • Redecorations
    • Door and ironmongery installations
    • Partitioning
    • Ceilings
    • Flooring
    • Remedial work
    • Compliance upgrades

  • Create plans and schedules for project delivery in a live clinical environment, ensuring minimal disruption and a "right first-time" approach.
  • Oversee supply chain management, including:

    • Defining project scopes
    • Conducting risk assessments and method statements
    • Conducting quality checks
    • Managing performance

  • Handle procurement and cost control activities, including:

    • Estimating costs
    • Obtaining quotes
    • Issuing purchase orders
    • Managing variations
    • Tracking budgets

  • Take responsibility for health and safety and compliance, including:

    • Fulfilling CDM duties
    • Managing permits to work
    • Adhering to asbestos regulations
    • Ensuring fire-stopping measures
    • Maintaining infection control standards

  • Effectively manage stakeholders, including:

    • Estates teams
    • Clinical staff
    • Authorised Persons
    • Client representatives

  • Provide progress updates and maintain governance by:

    • Preparing progress reports
    • Maintaining risk registers
    • Attending key meetings


Qualifications and Skills:




    • A proven track record in delivering fabric and building small works projects in occupied and live settings.
    • A strong understanding of:

      • CDM regulations
      • Asbestos regulations
      • Fire safety
      • Safe systems of work

    • The ability to:

      • Interpret drawings and specifications
      • Manage multiple concurrent project packages within set timeframes, budgets, and quality standards

    • Effective communication skills, with the ability to:

      • Influence
      • Prioritise
      • Keep projects moving forward

    • Qualifications:

      • PRINCE2, PMI, APM, or SMSTS
      • City & Guilds, HNC, or HND in Building or Construction, or an equivalent qualification
