We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Technical Manager to be home based but visiting sites across Yorkshire, Midlands and the North West 1-2 days a week.
The role is to be a technical expert for the region supporting the portfolio of hospitals so an in-depth knowledge of critical mechanical maintenance.
You will audit the sites and ensure all AP paperwork is in order for steam and critical ventilation. Being the steam expert for the region you will conduct training courses with mechanical engineers to upskill them in this area.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone technically minded who wants to progress their career but doesn't want to take the operational/staff management route. Within this role you will be part of the regional technical expertise team.
Duties of the role include:
- Home based mechanical expert - liaising with teams and providing support remotely (or on site if needed).
- Completing mechanical site audits on hospitals, schools, and commercial properties.
- Working with on site engineering teams to create site improvement plans.
- Carrying out training and assessments with the on-site engineers to upskill them in HTM specific requirements such as steam, ventilation, and medical gas.
- Acting mechanical expert, able to help out in skilled situation such as complex steam isolations.
- Leading any accident investigations where mechanical equipment has been involved.
- Actively engaging in new opportunities to expand your own skill set and knowledge, keeping up to date with changes and advances in legislation.
The Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- Previously been and AP/RP
- Great understanding of steam and able to train up engineers
- Considerable experience in mechanical engineering in a hospital environment
- Passionate about continuous improvement
- Mechanical qualifications relevant to the role
