Commercial Manager
Scotland - Central Belt
Salary £55-60K plus benefits
Our client is looking for a Commercial Manager to join their facilities management company in Scotland. You will be responsible to Head of Commercial.
The Role
- Operate as the key commercial resource for the Contract, manage all commercial activities in line with the NEC 4 requirements.
- Lead on the approach to, and resolution of, contentious items in agreement with operations and finance including a central role in aged debt management and managing risk
- Ensure that those responsible for delivering individual projects fully understand the commercial detail of contracts to enable optimal performance and risk management.
- Drive commercial performance (across the business and at individual project level) by continually reviewing areas for improvement.
- Supporting site teams in the application of payment reports and contract mechanics.
- Identify and share areas of best practice from the wider FM industry and within the business
- Ensure the business is commercially resilient to external threat.
Commercial Improvement
- Lead the contract on commercial improvement activity.
- Undertake planned contract compliance and commercial health check reviews to develop commercial acumen across the contract.
- Deliver a risk-based approach to commercial improvement, reviewing the risk landscape regularly.
- Deliver training to the Contract and Client team on a regular basis, addressing specific issues of risk and areas of NEC 4 focus
- Carry out regular reviews of contract and projects with a view to developing new opportunities / service lines offering added value to client and improving margin where possible.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Educated to Degree standard (preferably Law, Business, Quantity Surveying or similar); OR
- Significant demonstrable relevant industry experience
- Recognised health and safety qualification (desirable)
Essential
- Extensive experience of working within a commercial FM environment
- In depth knowledge and experience of NEC contracting and processes
- Experience at providing operational commercial services (e.g. applications and reporting, for example: monthly, early warning and compensation events reporting)
- Management of systems updates (e.g. task orders, service orders, project orders, CAFM etc)
- Proven ability to produce detailed and complex reports for internal and external parties
- Client facing experience (e.g. monthly meetings)
Desirable
- Projects experience, including managing low, medium and high value changes, and establishing and monitoring related appointments
- Procurement and/or Subcontracting experience
- High degree of numeracy and literacy
- Proactive customer focussed approach
