We have an exciting opportunity for an Estates & Facilities Manager to join a successful team in Huddersfield

As Estates & Facilities Manager, you will deliver the property strategy action plan and further develop the estate, facilities and services in order to provide an excellent customer experience.
Responsible for the delivery of hard and soft services, estate and buildings management, department budgets, management of service contracts and compliance. The post will ideally suit someone with a strong background in Estates & Facilities Management, who thrives in a dynamic and customer focussed environment.
The successful candidate will be an experienced manager who leads by example and acts as an excellent role model to the team. You will be self-motivated, highly organised, possess excellent customer service and communication skills, with a 'can do' approach and focussed on continual service improvement.
Responsible for the Maintenance, Security, Reception and Hard/Soft Services teams, including the department Helpdesk.
The ideal candidate will be personable, people and customer focussed, someone who is comfortable dealing with difficult situations and customer complaints. Someone who enjoys working in a dynamic environment, is highly organised, enabling them to manage their own workload, the teams and a number of projects simultaneously. The individual must be a self-starter with drive and passion for continuous improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the monitoring and control of expenditure and income against allocated budgets.
- Responsible for the Control of Contractors, ensuring work is carried out safely, meets the College requirements and conforms to all relevant legislation.
- Responsible for the client/contractor liaison of all agreed maintenance and projects including, the development of client briefs, specifications, tender documentation, Local Authority planning and Local Authority Building Control applications, project initiation, the decanting of staff and learners, furniture and equipment.
- Work closely with the Head of department on strategy management and be responsible for delivering the Property Strategy action plan.
- Responsible for ensuring all M&E plant,
- To ensure all service contracts are managed effectively within legal & contractual requirements, achieve value for money (e.g. mechanical & electrical, cleaning, hygiene & welfare, waste disposal & recycling, grounds maintenance, utilities).
- To ensure all planned, preventative and reactive building maintenance is carried out promptly and effectively across the estate.
- Project manage, coordinate and supervise the work of contractors and staff to deliver a variety of projects, such as internal refurbishments, long-term maintenance and capital works.
- Oversea the management of the Estates & Facilities Helpdesk, ensuring a customer focussed and efficient service is delivered.
- Effectively manage team and individual performance through regular one-to-one / team meetings and appraisal reviews.
- To ensure Unit policies, procedures and work instructions are current and meet College requirements.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Demonstrable experience working in a Estates and Facilities Management role
- An evident ‘positive’ and ‘can do’ attitude
- Enjoyment in managing multiple tasks and prioritising to achieve deadlines
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Demonstrable experience of managing Estates & Facilities projects
- Strong team management, interpersonal and organisational skills
