Job Title: Facilities Manager

Location: Exeter

Contract Type: Full-Time, Temporary Contract

Salary: £38,000 - £39,000 per annum

About the Role:

Our client is looking for a proactive and experienced Facilities Manager to join their team on a temporary contract to oversee a portfolio of PFI schools in the Exeter area. You will act as the primary point of contact (24/7) for your assigned schools and provide cover for others when needed.

The role focuses on the effective delivery of hard FM services, team management, compliance, and client engagement. You will work closely with the Hard FM Manager and other internal specialists to ensure service excellence across your sites.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead on hard FM service delivery across nominated schools

Manage and support on-site staff including Engineers and Caretakers

Act as the main liaison with school stakeholders and the client

Deliver staff inductions, manage rotas, absence, and performance

Promote a safety-first culture and ensure all H&S procedures are followed

Monitor contractor activity, manage permits, and oversee site standards

Review and sign off PPM documentation and ensure timely job closure

Track and manage unavailability/penalty deductions, ensuring minimal impact

Obtain quotes, raise purchase orders, and manage cost variations

Attend internal/external meetings and participate in out-of-hours escalation rota

What We're Looking For:

Previous experience in a Facilities Manager role (PFI/schools desirable)

Strong team leadership, organisational, and client management skills

Solid understanding of hard FM, compliance, and risk management

Ability to work under pressure, make decisions, and drive service standards

Strong IT literacy and confidence with reporting and audit documentation
