Estates Compliance Officer
Sunderland

Our client is currently looking for an Estates Compliance Officer to join their team in Sunderland.
The Role
- To provide assurance, guidance and support regarding all Estates & Facilities related matters of health & safety compliance across the estates
- To be responsible to the Assistant Maintenance Manager for compliance, statutory maintenance and health and safety activities, including water hygiene and asbestos.
- Produce, manage and advise on safe working practices/procedures and ensure adherence to safe systems of work and that robust procedures are carried out across the estate.
- Ensure that all health & safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated
- Statutory testing & inspection - Monitor, update and report on all statutory tests/inspections records and ensure they are carried out in-line with legislation
- To act as the competent person for the management of asbestos
- To undertake, review and implement Estates & Facilities risk assessments and COSHH assessments for the Maintenance Team.
- Working with the Assistant Maintenance Manager, allocate and prioritise work tasks for the Maintenance Trades Team
- Assist in the co-ordination of statutory and health and safety training requirements.
- Manage on-line fire, asbestos, DSE, manual handling, COSHH & risk assessment training.
- To undertake the Area Safety Health Environment Co-ordinator's (ASHEC) responsibilities for Estates & Facilities and support the annual reporting, planning and monthly reviews relating to all health, safety and environment plans and proactively work with the Strategic Health and Safety lead to develop and provide a culture of positive health, safety and compliant management within the Service.
- To undertake regular health & safety inspections of Estates & Facilities workshops, office areas and plant rooms, ensuring risk is managed and actions are monitored
- Be responsible for managing, monitoring and reporting on any health, safety & environment audits, fire risk assessment actions and any other maintenance related audits that are undertaken.
- Be responsible for managing, monitoring and reporting on Crimson (insurance inspection system) actions
- Support the Estates Maintenance Manager on the long term maintenance plan and provide expert information to plan and implement compliance related projects/works.
- To manage projects/contractors to undertake the required works as detailed and to satisfactory standards.
- To manage external contracts in relation to reactive and planned maintenance with regards to compliance activity, including fire safety equipment service/maintenance, water hygiene & asbestos.
- To be responsible for the issuing and control of works throughout the estate where permits to work systems are in place including (Hot Works, Working at Height and Confined Spaces).

- Experience in defect allocation /use of CAFM system
- Delivery of training
- Experience in a maintenance discipline
