Maintenance Electrician
Sunderland

Our client is looking for a maintenance electrician to join their team to complete electrical maintenance and repairs on their site.
The Role
To be responsible for carrying out electrical planned and breakdown maintenance and minor works as specified on works orders or by line manager on sites of buildings leased, controlled or serviced by the University, undertaking fault finding on a range of systems including 230v/415v electrical systems and operating machinery and test equipment in compliance with good practice and statutory health and safety requirements.
Responsibilities
- Undertake work to an agreed standard in compliance with industry standards, statutory requirements and relevant codes of practice.
- To be responsible for emergency lighting and fire alarm maintenance and testing to ensure statutory compliance.
- To utilise computerised maintenance management system. To provide information on task progress/completion including input of stores materials used and time taken to complete tasks.
- To complete tasks to predetermined targets, in liaison with Supervisors and management.
- As appropriate, to work in accordance with any identified key performance indicators
- To respond to the requirements of the department with regard to overtime working availability, subject to reasonable notice from management.
- To ensure, as far as is predictable, the health, safety and welfare of the role holder and others likely to be affected by the role holders actions, by working in accordance with the latest statutory legislation Building Regulations, Codes of Practice etc., Health, Safety and Welfare Legislation and other associated recommendations.
- To proactively establish and maintain mutually respectful relationships with all Business Services colleagues.
- To proactively establish and maintain mutually respectful and beneficial relationships with all Business Services customers.
- Existing duties may be varied as required from time to time, but such variation will not have the effect of changing the general character of the duties, or the level of responsibility entailed. Temporary additional duties may be occasionally required, to meet the exigencies of the service .
- A 5 out of 7 day working pattern (including weekends) will be required occasionally to ensure flexibility in supporting business needs.
- To participate in staff development and training programmes as required.
- Such other duties as the Director may determine commensurate with the grade and nature of the post.

- Driving license
