Assistant Electrical Engineering Manager
Durham

Our client is looking for an assistant electrical engineering manager to join their estates team to assist in the management of the engineering workforce.
The Role
- Analyse and resolve technical problems, provide feedback and reports.
- Ensure that all Health Safety and Environmental legislation and company policies are adhered to.
- Implement the Technical Services PPM programme and advise line managers of any significant change issues.
- Carry out safety and environmental risk assessments in accordance with legislation and company policy and procedure.
- Manage and supervise sub-contractors and assist in the tendering process.
- Take on Authorised Person duties in relevant areas
- Monitor performance of Engineering Supervisors and workforce.
- To undertake specialist training courses when required to learn new techniques and to gain accreditation and certification with new systems and plant, etc
- Assist in the engineering content of Minor New Works and projects.
- Participate in the Engineer's On Call rota.
- Understand the requirements of the contract, ensuring that KPI's are achieved, and assist with the monthly report to client.
- Attend meetings, take minutes, and action.
- Operate a 'Permit to Work' system.
- Carry out estate surveys and prepare reports.
- Manage and supervise statutory inspections.
- Maintenance and experience of HVAC systems, HV/LV electrical systems, generators, BMS controls, lighting and power distribution systems, IT infrastructure, MTHW/steam boilers, UPS systems, addressable fire alarm systems, security systems and equipment, DHCW systems management, water treatment, lighting protection, lifts, sterilizers, pneumatics tube systems, nurse call systems.
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified time-served Electrician with at least five years in a multi-discipline engineering role preferably in healthcare
- Educated to HNC/ONC and prepared to continue studies if required
- City & Guilds 2391 or 2394/5 desirable
- BS7671 18th Edition
- Experience in a supervisory role
- Cross-trade experience advantageous
- Good communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Worked within a similar contract organisation
- Worked in a safety and quality environment
- Preparation and management of budgets
- Fault and breakdown engineering investigation
- Preparation of and working to standard engineering operating procedures
