PFI Variations Manager
Location: North West — hybrid working with travel to project sites
Salary: £62,000 plus car allowance
Full-time, permanent

We are recruiting a PFI Variations Manager to oversee contractual changes and support lifecycle projects across a portfolio of PFI assets.

This role will suit someone with experience in PFI facilities management, variations or contractual change management who enjoys coordinating projects, reviewing costs and resolving outstanding issues. You will work closely with clients, FM providers and project stakeholders to ensure changes are properly assessed, documented and progressed through approval to completion.

The role



  • Coordinate new and outstanding variations across multiple PFI contracts, keeping requests moving through review, approval and completion.


  • Review contractor proposals, checking the scope of works, supporting information and costs against contractual requirements.


  • Resolve technical and commercial queries with FM providers, obtaining clarification or revised proposals where required.


  • Review legacy changes, identify gaps in approvals or documentation and work with stakeholders to resolve outstanding matters.


  • Maintain accurate project records, cost workbooks and progress trackers, providing clear updates on deadlines and actions.


  • Support lifecycle projects by coordinating inspections, reviewing supporting documentation and monitoring progress.


  • Attend client, contractor and project meetings to agree priorities, address issues and track delivery.


  • Undertake site visits to review proposed works, monitor activity and check completed works against agreed requirements.


  • Coordinate relevant appointments and documentation, including Principal Designer arrangements where needed.


  • Review completion records and final accounts, querying discrepancies and recording changes to approved costs.


  • Support purchase order and invoice processes, helping resolve payment queries and close out completed projects.


  • Improve the consistency and efficiency of variation processes across the portfolio.


About you



  • Experience working within a PFI/PPP environment, with an understanding of contractual obligations and the relationship between clients, project companies and FM providers.


  • Experience managing or coordinating variations, contractual changes or change control processes within FM, construction or property projects.


  • A background in hard services FM, technical project support, construction administration or a related discipline.


  • Commercial awareness, with the ability to review costs, question proposals and identify missing information.


  • Confidence reading and interpreting contracts, scopes of works and project documentation.


  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage several projects and competing deadlines.


  • Clear communication skills and confidence working with clients, contractors and technical teams.
