Freelance Site Engineer - Defence Civils

South Wiltshire

£300-£350 per day

Minimum six month assignment

We are recruiting a freelance Site Engineer to support a growing programme of civil engineering, groundworks and remediation projects across a secure defence estate in South Wiltshire.

The initial assignment is expected to last at least six months, with a substantial pipeline of additional packages due to commence across several nearby sites.

The programme includes:

  • Civils and groundworks supporting a major new build project
  • Roads, footpaths and external works
  • Drainage and underground services
  • Concrete slabs and foundations
  • Enabling and remediation works
  • Additional smaller civils packages across the wider estate

Responsibilities will include:

  • Setting out and surveying
  • Checking drawings, levels and technical information
  • Producing accurate site records and as built information
  • Completing QA documentation and inspection records
  • Monitoring subcontractor and direct labour works
  • Supporting the Project Manager and site management team
  • Identifying technical and design issues
  • Ensuring works comply with specifications and site procedures

We are looking for:

  • An experienced Site Engineer with a varied civil engineering background
  • Strong setting out experience across groundworks, drainage, concrete and external works
  • The ability to support several concurrent or consecutive packages
  • Good knowledge of construction QA and site documentation
  • A valid CSCS card
  • Willingness to travel between sites across South Wiltshire
  • Eligibility and willingness to complete the required UK government security vetting process

Existing defence estate security clearance would be advantageous but is not essential. Subject to successful initial checks and correctly completed vetting documentation, temporary site access may be available while full clearance is processed.

Typical site hours are 07:30-16:30 Monday to Thursday, with an earlier finish on Friday.

CIS or limited company engagement may be available, subject to the appropriate status and compliance assessment.

Apply with your CV, current location, availability, required rate and details of any current or previously held security clearance.
