Description

Role: Mechanical Project Manager

Location: Manchester

Pay: £450 per day CIS

Hours: 37.5 Hours Per Week | Monday to Friday

Start date: Immediate Start

Contract: Temporary | Minimum 6-Month Contract

 

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Freelance Mechanical Project Manager to support the delivery of a significant programme of capital and lifecycle projects within a large acute hospital in Manchester.

Working within a live healthcare environment, you will take responsibility for managing mechanical and building services projects, ensuring safe and successful delivery from project inception through to completion.

 

The Role

The successful candidate will lead mechanical projects across a complex hospital estate, managing design teams, contractors, procurement activities and project delivery whilst maintaining operational continuity within critical healthcare facilities.

 

Key Responsibilities

- Manage mechanical and building services projects through all project stages

- Develop and maintain project programmes, budgets and delivery plans

- Coordinate consultants, contractors and specialist subcontractors

- Ensure full compliance with CDM Regulations, Health & Safety requirements and permit systems

- Manage project risks, quality standards and commercial performance

- Produce project reports, cashflow forecasts and management updates

- Oversee installation, commissioning and handover activities

- Ensure minimal disruption to hospital operations during project delivery

- Maintain effective stakeholder relationships across technical and operational teams

 

Requirements

- Proven experience delivering mechanical building services projects

- HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent qualification within Mechanical Engineering or Building Services

- Strong project management experience within healthcare, public sector, FM, commercial or critical environments

- Demonstrable experience managing subcontractors and multidisciplinary project teams

- Good commercial awareness with experience managing project budgets and financial reporting

- Strong understanding of Health & Safety, CDM Regulations and contractor management

- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

 

Contract Details

- £450 per day CIS

- Immediate start available

- Minimum 6-month contract

- 37.5 hours per week

- Monday to Friday

- Site-based role in Manchester
