An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Document Controller to support a growing regional bespoke housing developer delivering high-quality, design-led homes across Yorkshire and the North East.

This freelance role offers the chance to work closely with the Technical, Commercial, and Construction teams, managing project documentation across several live and upcoming housing developments. You'll play a key role in ensuring that all technical drawings, specifications, and project records are efficiently controlled, distributed, and updated in line with the company's exacting standards for quality and compliance.

The ideal candidate will have experience working within residential construction-particularly bespoke or small-volume developments-and be confident managing multiple document streams through digital document management systems.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the flow of drawings, specifications, and design information between internal teams, consultants, and contractors.

Maintain accurate document registers, ensuring all project documentation is correctly named, versioned, and distributed.

Upload and manage documents via the company's EDMS (e.g. Viewpoint, Asite, 4Projects, or similar).

Support design coordination meetings by collating up-to-date drawing packs and document summaries.

Track design submissions and approvals to ensure timely information flow to site.

Conduct document control audits to maintain compliance with QA and ISO standards.

Provide administrative and technical support to the Technical and Construction teams, ensuring accurate records are available at all times.

Key Requirements

Minimum 3 years' experience as a Document Controller within the construction or residential development sector.

Experience supporting bespoke housing or high-end residential projects is highly desirable.

Excellent understanding of technical drawings, version control, and document protocols.

Proficient in document management systems such as Viewpoint, Asite, 4Projects, or Aconex.

Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Confident communicator able to liaise with multiple project stakeholders.

Available for an immediate or short notice start and open to hybrid working.
