Estates Maintenance Assistant

Location: South Shields

£9.49 per hour

37.5 hours per week

8 weeks contract min

Our client is looking for a maintenance assistant to join their estates team to assist in the repair, service and inspection of building, mechanical, electrical and their associated systems.

The Role:

Mechanical

• Cleaning extract fans and ventilation grilles
• Temperature checks,
• Taking water samples
• Operation and maintenance of Trust sewage works (where applicable)
• Operation of the Trusts steam and heating boiler systems
• Statutory testing and maintenance of safe water temperature devices
• Utility meter readings and consumptions
• Inspection, testing, and repair of fire fighting equipment

Electrical

• Replacement of defective light bulbs identified on bulb round sheets and/or ad-hoc basis. Cleaning of light fittings, shades / diffusers. (internal & external)
• Inspection, testing, and repair of fire detection equipment

Building

• Fixing of notice boards, clocks, notices etc
• Replacement of damaged ceiling tiles
• Clearing and maintenance of drainage, rain water and sanitary ware systems
• Replacement/re-fixing of hand/safety rails
• Inspection and patching repairs to flooring
• Brick work and footpath repairs
• Roof repairs
• Snow clearing/gritting, which may include being part of the seasonal on-call rota for these duties
• Driving of tractor or other Estates vehicle
• Upholstery repairs

The Person:

• You will have some experience of working in a maintenance role
• You will be required to participate in a 24 hour call out as required.
• You will be a good communicator
• You will have a clean driving licence as will be required to drive between sites.
