Role: Senior Estimator
Location: Sheffield - S9 (office based)
Salary: £40,000 to £43,000 based on 40 hour week
Monday - Friday
08:30 - 17:00 with 1 hour for lunch
25 days holiday plus stat bank holidays
Various company benefitsWe are working with a well-established national sized Facilities management company who are looking for a Senior Estimator to join their team.
Key Purpose:
The Senior Estimator will work closely with other managers to provide clients with cost effective solutions that provide the required level of service, while enhancing the asset and meeting long term asset management principals. The post-holder will deploy technical services and will proactively seek areas of continuous improvement taking into account innovation and developments within the construction/reactive maintenance industry.
Key Accountabilities:- Attend site meetings when required.
- Estimate labour, materials and hired plant costs to produce and provide clients with timely detailed quotations for reactive maintenance / refurbishment works.
- Research, recommend and procure specialist products/materials.
- Manage the quote request process.
- Maintain a flow of timely information to the client both verbally and in writing including progress reports and updates.
- Assist in subcontractor procurement.
- Assist in project tender submissions
- Liaise and assist Building Operation Managers with refurbishment project specifications and requirements.
- Always maintain the profession image of the company.
- Build effective working relationships with operatives, clients, and customers.
- Help resolve any client-related issues, queries and/or disputes.
- Assist in resolving billing problems to ensure efficient processing of sales invoices.
- Liaise with site personnel and sub-contractors to maximise productivity.
- Provide professional advice and input to commercial discussions and reviews.
- Manage own workload and co-ordinate with others to ensure strict deadlines are met.
- Undertake additional training to grow with the role.
- Attend and contribute to meetings with work colleagues and or clients/customers when necessary.
- Line Manage a team of estimators/ trainee estimators.
General:
- Participate in the Management call out telephone rota as designated
- Carry out other relevant duties as required from time to time. The key accountabilities listed above are not an exhaustive list and other duties requiring similar skill levels may be required.
- Assist in staff matters including staff succession, coaching, mentoring, and/or training colleagues.
- Promote continual review and improvement of services.
Competencies:
Estimator or similar
Construction background
Technical knowledge and design knowledge
Live in commutable distance to Sheffield S9 (office-based role)
Full driving licence - essential
Good communication skills (written & verbal) – essential.
Proficient in Microsoft Office - essential
Good level of commercial acumen - essential.
Sound understanding of Health, Safety and environmental legislation and working practices – essential.
