Water Hygiene Technician
Central Belt
Salary up to £25K
Our client is looking for a water hygiene technician to join their team on a social housing contract in the central belt of Scotland.
The Role
As part of the role you will be carrying out planned preventative maintenance on hot and cold and closed water systems to HTM, ACOP L8 standards and HSG guidance for effective water quality control including legionella and pseudomonas.
You will have experience of thermostatic mixer valves, be able to carry out works to include tank inspections and disinfection of water, storage tanks and domestic services, water temperature monitoring, system flushing, shower head descales and calorifier inspection. You will be provided with training/development as part of this varied role.
Previous relevant experience in the maintenance of domestic and commercial buildings is essential. It is preferred you have legionella ACOP L8 awareness.
Duties- Where required carry out maintenance, repairs and inspection of building services. All in accordance with relevant standards and operational procedures and in compliance with legislation and guidance.
- Represent the company in a respectful and professional manner.
- Respond in a timely manner to ad-hoc breakdown requests as identified by supervisor / manager.
- Carry out duties in accordance with safe working practices within statutory and Company guidelines.
- Safely operate all types of access equipment, hand and power tools in accordance with health & safety and manufacturers’ guidelines.
- Ensure the correct use of personal protective equipment and adherence to health & safety and infection control procedures.
- Maintain records as and when appropriate and as required, whether written or electronic.
- Willing to assist and work flexibly with other trades/colleagues.
- Ensure liaison with Wards and Departments as required, ensuring there is minimum disruption whilst carrying out work.
- Undertake training where necessary to learn other skills and to maintain and develop the requirements of the services
- Carry out risk assessments on-site as instructed by supervisor / manager.
- Collaborate and co-operate with the partners and colleagues to deliver a customer focused service.
- Use initiative to make appropriate decisions, including when working out of hours
- Diligently complete all required job cards and other work-related paperwork to the required standard.
- Complete work within the allotted timeframes.
Qualifications or Required Experience:
- Previous exposure to the Water Hygiene sector.
- Up to date knowledge of technical regulations including Water Byelaws, L8 ACOP and Guidance.
