My client is proud to have won a new and prestigious contract in the Portsmouth area and are looking to recruit a maintenance team to work on this vibrant static site. The building portfolio is that of a large hospital, so experience of healthcare would be an advantage.
This is a permanent role working as part of an on site maintenance team providing 24/7 coverage to the client. The role on offer is working mostly days but also a bit of shift - in a 4 week rotation you will work 3 weeks of standard days, 1 week of lates (till 10pm) and 1 weekend. As there are anti-social hours there is a shift allowance in with the role take the salary to £29,000 - £33,000 on experience.
While on site you will be responsible for all Mechanical FM aspects of the site covering all building assets in planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown and repair. Duties of the role include:
- Working as part of an M+E team completing all technical work on the hospital building portfolio
- Planned, preventative maintenance, testing, repairs and new installation work
- Cover all areas mechanical maintenance such as plumbing, pipefitting, basic AC work etc
- To work safely on steam and hot water systems working alongside specialists and contractors as required
- To observe statutory and other relevant requirements at all times in particular those relating to the Health & Safety at Work Act, COSHH regulations
- Work in the varied working conditions that come with a hospital site which can be difficult at times being aware of hazards such as bodily fluids and noxious fumes
- After suitable training and guidance diagnose faults, repair and maintain complex equipment in accordance with Health Technical Memorandum (HTM’s) and other specialised hospital equipment.
- Work to a high standard of customer service - being vigilant you are working on wards with patients as well as back of house in the plant rooms so being personable and respectful at all times is a must.

The Candidate:
Candidates must be technically qualified to be eligible for the role and must have a flexible and willing attitude, happy to learn new skills and work to deliver an excellent customer experience. Essential qualities for the role are:
- City and Guilds, NVQ or BTEC in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience of commercial mechanical building maintenance
- Confident, experienced and driven attitude
- Good planning and organisational skills
