We are currently recruiting for a Decontamination Engineer to work at a well established hospital in the Portsmouth area. The role is working a mix of days and lates with a week on days 7.30am - 4.15pm, a week on later 12.15 - 10pm and a week off (there is one weekend worked within the pattern on the late shifts, all the other weeks are Mon- Friday). The purpose of the role is t o undertake planned, preventative maintenance, testing, repairs and new installation work covering a wide range of equipment, services, systems and buildings associated with the running of a large hospital.
While an experienced Decontamination engineer would be preferred, applicants with a technical background are also welcome to apply and training will be provided on the specific equipment (previous electrical experience preferable to quickly pick up the training)
There is a call out 1 week in 4 which you will be paid and extra standby allowance for.
Main Responsibilities/Duties:
- Support the Estates Management in the provision of a 24hr maintenance Service within the hospital
- After suitable training and guidance diagnose faults, repair and maintain complex equipment in accordance with Health Technical Memorandum (HTM's) and other specialised hospital equipment.
- To carry out weekly Process Control Testing and Maintenance of all decontamination Plant including Breakdowns, fault finding, servicing and repairing along with audit trail paper work.
- To observe statutory and other relevant requirements at all times in particular those relating to the Health & Safety at Work Act, COSHH regulations and Electrical IEE regulations.
To work on the following types of machine including the services that support them.
- Sterilizers
- Washer disinfectors
- AER's (automated endoscope reprocesses)
- Reverse osmosis plants
- Ultrasonic cleaners
- Little sister machines
- Scope sterile hanging cabinets
- Pathology LTE machines
- Steam, air, water, drainage, electrics, etc
The Applicant
The ideal applicant will possess the following skills and experience:
- Experience in a commercial maintenance environment
- Ideally decontamination experience OR electrical experience with a desire to retrain into the post
- Hospital experience is desirable (not essential)
- Able to work the shift pattern
- Local to the Portsmouth area or willing to commute there daily
- Good communication and people skills
