General Overview:
The Commercial Manager will be the commercial resource supporting the operational team for a high-profile Public Sector contract worth in excess of £13m per annum. The Commercial Manager will provide contract commercial management services and profit improvement along with focus on compliance. In addition, the Commercial Manager may be required to support growth within the Sector on the existing contract as well as new business development initiatives to extend the suite of contracts in the region. Manage stakeholder relationships, including those with client representatives, the operational teams running the Contracts and other colleagues who provide functional support to the contract (e.g. risk, finance, HR etc.). To interact with managers of all levels both internally and within our Client organisation. Senior level dialogue and communication skills are essential in fulfilling this role.
Main Responsibilities/Duties Include:
- To deliver the commercial management function across the contract and clearly communicate the obligations and liabilities contained within the contract to ultimately ensure that income is maximised, costs are minimised, whilst the service required is delivered, by:
- Identifying, monitoring and reporting on risks.
- Supporting the management and mitigation of risks at all levels (operational, financial, commercial, technical, etc).
- Improvement in financial performance of the contract through contractual knowledge and improvement
- Management of variation/change control to capture revenue.
- Repository for confidential/commercially sensitive information.
- Leading governance within the contracts to ensure that the requirements of the contract and internal governance processes are being complied with.
- Aiding the quality of service by ensuring awareness of contractual responsibilities among all colleagues (including contract deliverables, scope of services etc.).
- Assisting in the search for efficiencies and service optimisation.
- Enforcing commercial compliance
- Supporting the management of cash under their contract sector
Qualifications or Required Experience:
- Suitable commercial experience within a similar industry sector
- Proven experience in managing NEC3 Term Service contract is essential
- Understanding and practical application of base UK law applicable to Commercial (Construction Act etc).
- Ideally a member or training to be member of a chartered institution.
- Excellent communicator
- Excellent financial acumen with an ability to analyse complex data and documentation with accuracy
- Skilled negotiator with proven experience in a commercial environment
- Sound understanding of risk analysis/management
- PC Literate with knowledge of MS applications e.g. Word, Excel
- Thorough knowledge and experience of Business Assurance systems.
