We currently have a new opportunity for a Small Works Projects Manager to work within a large and well-established business in Manchester. Dedicated to a Facilities Management account, the role will be responsible for delivering small works across Mechanical, Electrical and Fabric provisions across a large commercial estate of over 300 buildings.
Working alongside the maintenance team, you will be referred jobs through the maintenance pipeline covering refurbishment and replacements to help keep the buildings running smoothly. Jobs will vary between £5 - £75K and include asset lifecycle replacements as well as repairs such as boiler replacements, low water pressure investigations, emergency lighting replacement etc. The role will be fast paced and be low cost high volume.
Duties of the role include:
- To oversee the Design, Estimation, Value for Money, delivery and handover of minor improvement projects with a value of up to £75k per work package.
- Typical projects range from M&E infrastructure upgrades and building fabric life cycle repairs on large public sector properties across the Manchester region.
Provide a safe and healthy environment and working conditions for all direct report employees.
- Provide technical input to proposals and tenders in support of the business.
- Attend meetings with clients, sub-contractors, suppliers, and other company members as necessary. Monitor and manage project WIP/Debt to an acceptable level.
- Oversee the administration of items relating to the costing of projects.
- Achieve financial budget targets for the department
- Compliance with and record keeping for Company ISO Quality Management Systems.
- Control and monitor the performance of the specialist service provider and sub-contractors.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- Strong project management skills across all disciplines – mechanical, electrical and fabric
- Maintenance and small works experience
- Experience within a local authority environment is advantageous
- Proven experience in fast paced high volume Project Engineering delivery of projects or work packages up to the value of £100k
- Strong financial acumen with accurate pricing and budgeting skills
- Ability to plan and organise their work effectively, multitask and to meet changing environments and needs
- Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and safe working practices
- To be self-motivated and able to motivate others, to be reliable and able to act with responsibility – a self-starter who sees things through to completion
- IT skills required with specific reference to the Microsoft suite of package
