Estates Grounds & Gardens Maintenance Operative
- Darlington
- 37.5 hours
- Temp to Perm
- Salary Equivalent £20,036
Our client is looking for an estates grounds and garden maintenance to join their estates team in Darlington. This role is on a temporary to permanent basis.
Working hours 8am - 4pm
The Role
- Mowing of lawns
- Preparation, weeding and pruning of borders and hedges
- Seasonal planting of decorative borders
- Minor tree surgery and general upkeep of horticultural areas
- Leaf collection
- Ensure general tidiness of grounds, including litter picking, road/path sweeping and emptying external bins
- Gritting of footpaths and roads during adverse winter weather conditions including the use of dedicated equipment for snow clearing and gritting.
- Driving agricultural vehicles
- Use of communication devices (Radio / Pager / Mobile / Telephone)
- Assist with the placement of cones and barriers if/when necessary
- Support and assist other trades as and when required
- Use of pesticides and agricultural hand chemicals
- Maintaining grounds area, removing litter cutting back undergrowth and maintaining paths.
- Hedge trimming and strimming to gradients and edges
- General upkeep of horticultural areas i.e. shrub and planted flowering borders
- Vacuum/sweep to remove any cigarette ends
- Keep main entrances clean and tidy
- Cleaning of external signage
Qualifications & Experience
- NVQ or C&G in horticultural Level 2 or 3
- Experience in a similar environment
- Full driving licence
