Construction Manager


  • Kingston Upon Thames
  • £260 to £300 per day
  • long term temp contract

The Role


  • To undertake and oversee all engineering/construction works carried out on site by controlling team members, materials/plant.
  • Ensuring compliance with Industry Engineering Codes of Practice, company procedures, relevant safety standards and client requirements. 
  • Ensure all operatives are trained and competent to undertake all tasks asked of them.
  • Ensure all RA's and MS's are in place and being adhered to.
  • Site visits on regular basis engaging site operatives on best practice.
  • Ensure all PPE is worn as required for the task being undertaken.
  • Ensure all H&S audits are completed with all actions closed out.
  • Report hazards/near misses to the Client, promote this throughout the teams.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping around the sites and deal with any issues.
  • Understand the contractual requirements/outputs and ensure the contract is resourced accordingly to achieve these.
  • Continually track production against planned work to ensure any early problems are identified and rectified in a timely manner.
  • Ensure site supervisors report back on progress v target on a weekly basis in the form of tracking sheets and a weekly meeting.
  • Liaise with the client and develop a close professional working relationship.
  • Coordinate all backfill and reinstatement requirements in accordance with the required spec for each individual job.
  • Monitor Sub-contractors to ensure quality and value of works.
  • Control expenditure

The Person

You must be a strategic thinker/planner, have excellent interpersonal skills.

You must have good management and leadership skills.

You must be adaptable to change

You must be customer/client focussed and be able to achieve results

Qualifications

Qualifications and skills to include as a minimum but are not limited to:


  • CSCS card
  • SMSTS
  • SSSTS
  • First Aid at Work
  • Must be IT literate - knowledgeable in all Microsoft packages - Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Proven client/ Management skills
  • 5-years' experience in the building industry and at least 2-years' in a supervisory role
