Technical Services Manager
Edinburgh

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Technical Manager who has extensive PFI experience to assist in leading a contract and team in Edinburgh. This is a fantastic opportunity with a leading facilities management company.
The Role
- You will lead the team of technical managers, supervisors and operatives in providing the technical service delivery on the contract.
- Ensure the provision of healthy and safe working conditions and that both clients and Company health and safety policy and process is effectively implemented
- Lead and support agreed technical safety working groups
- Responsible for the technical performance and maintenance of standards
- Drive digitalisation and modernising working practices which demonstrate industry leading best practice.
- Maintain compliance is fully up to date from technical managers
- Delivery Monthly KPI's Evidence & Promote harmonised team working
- Allow Technical Managers (Elec, Mech & Fabric) to run and concentrate on BAU, being the lead interface between client communications
- Ensure contract is staffed by fully competent teams, ensuring post holders are fully competent, and that effective succession planning arrangements are in place.
- Working with their reports to ensure the collaborative development of the business, effective teamworking, and support to colleagues.
- Provide leadership in both the context of the technical services team on site and the wider region if required
- Manage, organise and control the resource available to ensure that the mechanical and electrical engineering and building fabric services are delivered in line with contract requirement and client expectation
- Ensure that financial targets are met for each budget year
- Actively seek out opportunities to grow the business
- Ensure safe systems of work are in place and used at all times.
- Manage continuous improvement activities to deliver improved service delivery year on year.
- Manage all aspects of the performance of technical services team
- Ensure adherence to all Statutory Standards and Regulations and Department of Health requirements.
- Attend Union meetings, Health & Safety forums, Employee Forums and other regular meetings with staff and the client on a regular basis
- Delegate when required for the Head of Technical Services
- Responsible for participating in the 'on call' rota, after suitable training and relevant experience is gained.
- Ensure that staff performance is managed as required through for example, performance appraisals, disciplinary proceedings and grievances
- Ensure that the Technical Services Team have a customer focussed and service delivery culture.
- Liaise, co-ordinate and support other managers to ensure that cross service and wider contractual requirements are met
- To proactively manage the professional development and training needs of the department.
- Support other sites and business development activities as and when required
- To work as an Appointed Person (AP) in line with department requirement, personal skills and experience
- To undertake any other duties reasonably required by management.
Qualifications & Experience
- HNC in an engineering discipline; building services related or relevant.
- Extensive technical competence in Electrical and/or Mechanical disciplines.
- Experience of PFI/PPP
- Previous management experience leading technical services delivery in a healthcare or critical services environment.
- An understanding of alternative maintenance regimes.
- Carrying out technical monitoring, audits, and reviews.
- Preparation of technical reports.
- Managing a planned preventative maintenance system.
- Experience of the Management of sub-contractors.
- IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent.
- Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline, HV Electrical, Water Management
