General Overview:


To undertake improvement work, maintenance and repairs of plant, services and physical assets including testing and routine fault finding.



  • The responsibilities will be at the Mental Health units.



  • To participate in the out of hours on-call rota for Mental Health (pool vehicle provided).



  • To undertake any reasonable duties to maintain all services to the NHS Trust(s).

  • This is a multi-tasking role whereby you will be required to carry out works outside of the scope of electrical craftsperson (including, but not limited to, light plumbing and carpentry (training will be provided) and unblocking toilets, sinks and showers etc.).

  • To carry out all works in compliance with KPI's



Impact:


This position has an important role within the workflow process; the person will be actively involved in developing detailed knowledge, and the maintenance of the core plant and equipment on the Mental Health Buildings.



Complexity:  



  • Interpret and work from all instructions, drawings and specifications appropriate to his/her own trade, without supervision.

  • Set up New Work appropriate to his/her own trade using relevant tools, equipment and machinery, without supervision, as appropriate to his/her grade.

  • To carry out unsupervised maintenance and repairs and report any defects or unusual circumstances to the Charge Hand/Supervisor.

  • Requirement to learn new techniques with training as necessary.

  • Scope of work will include entering secure Mental Health departments containing service users undergoing various psychiatric treatment after reporting to departmental staff. Occasional exposure to distressing or emotional circumstances could be encountered.



  • After appropriate training, work off tower scaffolding, MEWP's, ladders, and step ladders and within confined spaces.



  • To understand the general working of the EQUANS Estate, so that work can be carried out in the most efficient manner, pro-active in developing new ways of working.

  • To understand fully the inter-relationship between various maintenance crafts.

  • To be knowledgeable of and to work to the current regulations, codes of practice, Health & Safety regulations and all safety rules both EQUANS and Statutory.

  • Produce, if necessary, list of materials to carry out remedial repairs or alterations to current task.

  • Ensure all PPM work is carried out effectively in compliance with maintenance instructions.

  • To maintain workshops and working environment in a clean, tidy and safe condition.

  • To record information as required for the operation of Maximo or similar system.

  • To participate in the EQUANS Top 3 appraisal system.

  • To understand the working of electrical systems within the EQUANS Estate.      

  • Diagnose and repair faults in engineering installation, plant and equipment. To deal with new situations as they arise and pass on knowledge to others. To inform immediate Charge Hand/Supervisors of any delays or difficulties encountered.

  • To maintain and efficiently run plant and equipment as appropriate.

  • To undertake any other duties as requested by Management, in order to comply with EQUANS's contact and KPI's

  • Staff will be employed on work appropriate to their core specialist skill. They will however progressively be suitably trained* to acquire elements of extra skills with the intention of reaching levels of flexibility and competence to enable them to achieve and apply the ability where required to perform the above. Pass knowledge gained to others.



  • To be contacted by radio and/or PDA to receive instructions. This can involve frequent disruption to work patterns.



Qualifications or Required Experience:



  • City & Guilds Electrical qualifications.

  • City & Guilds 18th Edition Regulations.

  • Indentured apprenticeship or equivalent training.
