Senior Design Manager

High Value Educational Project
Salary £65,000 to £85,000
Our client is recruiting for a Senior Design Manager to work on a high value educational facility in the Staffordshire area. This is a 10,000 sq ft school project up to the value of £40M.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a Development and Investment team in Staffordshire, supporting and accelerating the transition to a carbon-neutral economy by building energy efficient residential areas including homes and school with locally produced renewable energy.
The Senior Design Manager is a key role in this project and you must have extensive high value educational experience.
The Role:
- To manage the process of compiling and producing design information on contracts with an expected value of £ 2.5 M to £ 60 M.
- Agree appointment and scope of service for Design Team
- Review, comply and implement design management protocols
- Clear communication of expectations for design deliverables with designers
- Review compliance with Building regulations and other statutory regulations
- Provide quality control over design outputs and production
- Liaise with the Commercial Team for cost checking as design is developed
- Liaise with the operational teams regarding buildability and logistics
- Monitoring of design & resolution of technical queries
- Review design deliverables and progress against design programme
- Chairing design team meetings
- Review compliance of design against Employer's Requirements/ Specs/Contractors Proposals/Budget
- Review, assist and develop design, procurement and construction programmes
- Input into VE and design change
- Monitor design changes and change control
- Agree design changes with Client
- Any other reasonable management request
Qualifications & Experience
- Able to programme design works
- Knowledge of methodology and sequencing process in delivering a construction project including design and pre-construction activities
- Understanding of design requirements for procurement and construction purposes
- Ability to negotiate, influence and communicate effectively with all those who have a stake in the work
- Understanding of contractual requirements of the contracts
- Understanding of and driving CDM in the project
- Ability to drive issues through to completion
- Previous high value school experience
- Up to date relevant knowledge of building legislation
