We are currently recruiting for temporary Catering Assistants to work at a hospital in Wakefield. The role is for initially a month but potentially up to 6 months in duration and is to help cover an increased demand in work. Please note as the role is in a hospital it is not suitable if you have any underlying medical conditions or are in a group that should be self-isolating.
The duty of the Catering Assistant is to provide a safe, hygienic, nutritious and timely food service for staff and visitors. Assisting in the delivery of a high standard of food service which meets the requirements of food hygiene legislation.
Candidates must hold a DBS check or be willing to undergo one.
Duties:
- The hygienic handling of food products in accordance with food hygiene legislation
- Serving staff meals in an appetising and attractive manner that complies with the Company's portion control guidance.
- Taking and recording of food temperatures and seeking further instruction where these are outside appropriate temperature limits.
- To assist in the preparation of basic food and simple cooking as required
- To be involved in the general cleaning following the appropriate cleaning schedules including general cleaning duties including stacking dishwasher, use of electrical floor scrubber, damp dusting service areas and cleaning of all catering equipment.
- Ensure stock is dated and stock rotation procedures are observed.
- Ensure vending machines are adequately stocked and records of sales are completed.
- Operating cash register as required, ensuring the secure handling of cash and sales transactions through correct use of the cash registers.
Training and Education
- The post holder must be willing to undertake mandatory training as appropriate to the job.
- Applicants must hold a food hygiene certificate.
As this role is temporary, previous catering experience is required.
