The Role:
We are looking for a reliable, flexible and innovative Mechanical Engineer to carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), Reactive Maintenance and extra works/emergencies based on a static site. The main site is in south Leeds and you will be based there 4 days a week with 1 day a week visits other sites in the region completing monthly ppm's. There are around 6 sites in total you could be working at although they are also managed by another engineer so your role is largely to be based on the Leeds site. The client you will be working with is in the banking sector so the sites are professional and well maintained.
Ideally the candidate will be both qualified in commercial gas and air-conditioning to be able to look after all aspects of the site, however the manager will consider a single skill and supplement the gaps with subcontractors.
This role is ideal for anyone who is interested in progression as they will be looking to put the successful engineer through training courses to become a Mechanical AP and also an Electrical AP which are sought after accreditations.
Key Responsibilities:
- To carry out PPM in accordance with set schedules across all mechanical assets and electrical where possible. All general ppm's are to also be completed on site so this is not a pure mechanical role.
To respond in a prompt and effective manner to all mechanically related reactive maintenance issues, and help desk requests.
Carry out technical surveys of the above services and systems, reporting findings to the Building Services Supervisor (BSS). Producing list costs of material required for any minor works required.
- Carry out minor installation work to the above services and systems.
Repair and maintenance of gas boilers, pipework and Mechanical systems and equipment as per the specification.
To co-ordinate visiting specialist sub-contractors associated with M&E aspects of the PPM schedules. Surveying and accepting of new works and reactive repairs carried out by specialist sub-contractors.
To join the out of hours, call out team reacting to help desk requests within the local area. Call out is 1 in 2 although you are very rarely called our due to the nature of the site. There is £100 standby for being on call so this is another £2,600 per year for being onstandby on top of your salary.
There is overtime available on this and the other sites as well for planned ppm work which needs to be done out of operating hours.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Qualified commercial gas engineer - OR qualified air-conditioning engineer - ideally both
- ACS certification
- FGas or Safe Handling of refrigerants
- Experience in the Mechanical & gas aspects of general building PPM schedules.
- Basic DBS required for this role
