We are currently recruiting for a permanent Caretaker to work at a school in Horsforth, Leeds. The role is full time position working 37.5 per week between 7am-3pm with a 30minute unpaid break.
The main aim of this role is to manage all facilities and safety aspects of the school to provide a positive working environment for the students and staff.
Duties of the role include:
- Ensuring security integrity of the school buildings and grounds through locking and unlocking, patrols, monitoring third party contractors.
- Conduct initial investigations for reactive requests, carrying out the repairs or reporting the damage to the helpdesk
- Carry out daily tasks i.e. litter picking, spot cleaning toilets, replenishing toilet role
- Respond to emergency situations such as floods, bodily fluids and effecting temporary or permanent rectification in accordance with prescribed procedures and timescales
- Respond to request for collection of parcels, movement of furniture rearrangement of rooms etc in accordance with prescribed procedures and timescales
- Be observant for H&S issues and ensure that they are rectified or made safe and reported to management
- Being proactive by noticing deficiencies in the facilities and either rectifying if within capabilities or bringing the defect to the attention of management
The ideal candidate:
The ideal candidate will have experience of working in an education facility as a caretaker or similar with a proven trade such as carpentry, electrical or plumbing. Other skills required are,
- General handyman skills such as general DIY skills, minor plumbing, carpentry, electrical
- Experience working in a school or similar
- Good customer service skills
- Amenable and approachable personality
- Willingness to learn new skills and undertake training to develop role
- Flexible and adaptable in approach
- Able to work the shift pattern and out of hours calls as needed
- Enhanced DBS check
